Autumn/Winter are well are truly upon us here in the UK. The leaves are starting to change, the days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping and the pumpkin obsession has returned.
Here are my top 5 tips for staying High Vibe during this change of seasons
-Get outside: Don’t let the blustery winds and the unpredictable weather put you off. The day may start out grey but often by lunchtime the sun is shining. It really is beautiful to walk along the paths and kick up the leaves as you did when you were younger. So put on your favorite scarf and take a walk. The fresh air will give you a boost, it’s a simple way of grounding and your inner child will thank you for it when the days get too cold to brave the outdoors
-Turn up the music: Music is a fabulous way to raise your vibration. As a healer, I can not recommend it enough. Everyone knows I’m a lover of summer, it’s the mermaid in me. So when it’s time to dig out the UGG boots, my mermaid soul often craves that feeling of sand between my toes and sunshine on my face. My solution to this is my favorite summer song playlist. I turn up the speakers and play all my favorite tunes from the summer. It brings back my favorite memories and reminds me the next summer is just around the corner.
- Eat right: The fuel we put into our bodies has a huge effect on our vibration. Yet as the seasons change like the bear we so easily begin stacking up on those comfort foods. Just be careful that you aren’t carb-binging or filling yourself up on sugar as this will leave you feeling sluggish and low. Eat what’s in season is a trick our elders always followed. Perhaps a trip to your local fruit & veg store will inspire you to try something different in the kitchen and at the same time fuel your body into a happier mood.
- Embrace traditions: We adore the seasons in our house. And a lot of that is down to our love of traditions. We pack away the garden furniture and toys and then swap them for candles, soft blankets on the future and our stack of books we’ve been wanting to start throughout the year. Nights in the garden are swapped for movie nights and hot chocolate. It’s something so simple but it’s a habit that makes me enjoy the darker evenings even more.
- Plan ahead: I’m a planner. I mean I love to plan things way ahead. An example is I know that in November there are thousands of seals coming to a cove near me and I’ll be there waiting to see them. But I’ll also plan for spring and for summer so I know if the season before is a little bleak I have something to look forward to. We mark it on the calendar so the kids can see it approaching as-well. Find some balance between being present and forward planning and you’ve got the best out of both worlds. Every season has something to look forward to.
Change cannot be avoided on any level. I could give you all the tips in the world but if I had to give only one it would be embrace every season. It’s not here for long and then it’s gone. So plunge into it, move with the dance and the flow of the seasons. Each season simply ask yourself “What can I do to make the best out of this?”. You’ll be surprised what you come up with.
