When I hit my 30's I had not only lost myself I'd lost a lot of friends. We've talked about it before haven't we. It happens, some people are around your entire life, others for a small duration.
But the one thing I've learn't is it takes a tribe to keep this girl on her path and for that I need different types of friends. Sounds crazy right? Hang with me..
Here are a few types of friend I have in my Goddess Girl Gang. And you probably have some similar ones too.
The school Friend- The friend you've known since you were three years old. We have completely different lives, different visions and different personalities. But if there is one thing we know about its each other. This girl has helped me move house at the drop of a hat, She's been my shoulder and we've supported each other trough some impossibly difficult times. It can be weeks at time between speaking but we know we are always there for each other even after more than 20 years of being a pain in her butt.
The playground friends- I meet a lot of mum's. Boo isn't the type to run in a single circle so it means she's always playing with someone new and as a lot of you know mum's talk. I don't do clicks in fact I avoid them like the plague after my first year in the playground I learn't my lesson very quickly. But playground mum's rock because you are all doing the same thing, all thinking about the same school events and how you wish you hadn't had to shout at your child this morning to out their shoes on for the fourth time!! Playground mum's are awesome for a quick chat in the morning and a giggle then it's done. There might be coffee and cake, there might not. But that is the beat part. It's flexible and fun.
The current Friends- This is the friend that knows what's going on with you right now. The Bessie, the BFF. She checks in, she calls your home phone. She's probably the only one who has the number besides your parents. You both know whats happening in each others lives. Ups and downs, big things and small. They know it all. You'll find they are your go to for a rant and they do the same right back. This is one that usually stands the test of time because you know too much about each other to let them go. Its easy and it flows.
The Inspirational Friend- They've got it all, balance, drive and their shit together. They live from a place of inspiration. They push you for more and are the first person to send you a "You've got this!" text. They are the friend that makes you stand on your tip toes, the friend you look up to and aspire to be a little like. They don't weigh you down, gloating their success. They lift you up and push you gently forward. I am very lucky to have these friends.
The Soul Friends- I'm not going to lie but my soul sisters are all online. It sounds strange doesn't it. You see these are the friends that you go deep with. You pull through the deep questions of life, you set goals and you pull each other along your divine path. Weather you are on the other side of the world, or short flight away. Your soul sisters will help you pick through whatever haystack you often find yourself in from mercury retrograde to the frequent muggle stress.
So many different types of Goddess. So many wonderful friendships and different circles. All of them are right in their own way. If there is one thing I have learn't it is that as you get older friendships evolve, you don't need to just be friends with those that agree with you or like the same music. In fact I would go as far to say give everyone a chance. You don't know where you will find your newest friend.
There is common ground to be found in the strangest of places.
