Parenting- What they don’t tell you.
There are thousands on books on parenting. And just as you think you’ve seen it all someone writes a new one.
When I became pregnant with Boo I inhaled knowledge like it was oxygen. I read all about my pregnancy and the possibly complications. Heck I knew I would refuse to have my baby turned 6 weeks before they even said she might be breech.
I would of bought the T-shirt, the mug, and the baby bag if it came with extra parenting guidance. Because like every new mother I wanted to be the best parent I could possibly be. If it won a mother & baby award I had it.
By the second year my book shelf was busted from the weight of all this knowledge. And to be honest so was my brain.
Just as I had it all stored in my brain the rules would change. Don’t co sleep, do co sleep, don’t use this brand, only use water. Let them cry, don’t let them cry. Don’t have the vaccine, do have vaccine and don’t ever let your child fall asleep on you for the love of god!!
The list was endless. And you know what it was all bullshit.
The single most important thing you must do as a parent is trust yourself.
Trust that you know when something is wrong
Trust that you know when you need help
Trust that you know when your child isn’t their normal self.
Trust you are doing enough..
Because you are.
No one knows your child as well as you do.
And the funnest thing is just when you think you’ve mastered it, the little buggers go and change their minds and then you have figure it out all over again.
Motherhood is a journey. Of course take all the advice, guidance and support you can get. But also trust yourself.
After all they chose you to be their Muma.
